afternoon portraits
Lohbado took the above pictures during a visit to Petite Patrie in Montreal. He walked along Beaubien and bought a safety vest to wear while bicycle riding, to increase visibility. He spent some time visiting with people and enjoying the afternoon.

lohba meditation
Summer is a great time to go to the park and relax, to dissolve darkness clouding the mind and to reconnect with the dignity of existence.

Lohba foible
Lohba vlog encourages one to not be ashamed of minor weakness or eccentricity. Foibles are not a problem. In fact, they could be interesting. Two of Lohbado's foibles were his tendency to be an extreme loner and to speak slowly, with long pauses, something his father used to do as well when he got older.

Sunday portraits
Here's a few portraits taken Sunday afternoon. It's Tuesday already. Sunday is rapidly fading from memory. It's nice to have a few pictures, plus there's something enjoyable about looking at people. Each person is a world of experience, many stories, some of them interesting, some of them ordinary.

taste of onion
Begin with the senses, for example, taste. An old raw onion provides a vivid taste experience. There's also the taste in the mouth. How does your mouth taste right now? There's so much bacteria in there, maybe it tastes like very old Munster cheese.
Over the past few thousand years, many models of experience have been discussed. Sense organs contact sense data. The tongue tastes an onion. Taste data is transmitted to higher functions of the brain which unify the sensory point instants into a form. Another mind function assigns the word onion to the form. On top of that, one could make a subjective judgement. Do you like the taste; do you not like it; or are you indifferent? Sometimes one might turn one's reaction into a moralistic platform proclaiming that old onions are bad and should be tossed. Or one might decide they have interesting possibilities in certain culinary preparations. Or to the artist, perhaps an old onion has a kind of beauty evoking impermanence, decay and the cycle of nature.

lohba city
Lohbado tries to sort out sights and sounds in the city of Montreal, while doing his best to find lost cats and to let sleeping dogs lie. In this video, Lohbado contrasted the high decibel roar of city streets with the relative quiet of indoor moments. The percussion track was made by recording a recycling truck outside Lohbado's front window. The truck made a dramatic drum-like sound as a metal arm lifted a bucket and dumped contents into the back of the truck. Lohbado also tried recording a truck as he stood in a phone booth. Playing with sound is something Lohbado began at 13, using a cassette recorder with builtin mic. When Lohbado finally got a computer in about the year 2001, he began creating a sound library.

lohba awareness
Lohbado woke up spaced out. Being spaced out made him yearn to wake up and be aware. Awareness is its own reward. Life becomes richer and more alive when one pays attention to details. Path is the Goal is the title of a book on meditation by Chogyam Trungpa.

lohba spirituality
At the Moronovian Tabernacle, spirituality is defined as being. Being is synonymous with spirituality. The spiritual journey involves an aspiration to move beyond the limitations of confusion, beyond conceptual walls, beyond ignorance, beyond what anyone could say about it.

lohba openness
An attitude of openness, patience and friendliness could go a long ways in reducing dualistic antagonisms resulting from feeling one knows what's best for everyone.

to see like a child again
Lohbado remembered how as a child things felt fresh and magical. Walking down the street was an intriguing adventure. Everything felt so vivid and alive. He could talk to things and imagined them getting involved in the conversation. The world was filled with friendly sights and sounds in a festive celebration.
