Grande Print Art Fair
Lohbado took pictures of some of the people exhibiting prints at the Grand Print Art Fair yesterday in Montreal organized and hosted by Louis Rastelli and friends from Archive Montreal/Expozine and Chromatic Présente. For the collector or connoisseur of art prints, this fair was a cornucopia of visual richness and delight. For those participating, it provided a friendly situation in which to communicate with art other artists and the public and to share ideas and inspiration. More pictures after the jump

Saturday afternoon portraits in Montreal
Lohbado visited the open studio even hosted by Jan Desrosiers and Jim Kennedy, then rode to visit brother Kenneth who lived nearby. It was enjoyable to sit up high in a spacious old building, huge windows offering a panoramic view and to be surrounded with beautiful paintings.

an almost forgotten day
Lohbado opened an old video file and was shocked to realize how little he remembered of what he'd been doing, how he felt or what was on his mind. It's kind of strange how so much of existence goes by in the blink of an eye, as one barely skims the surface.

healing drink
Sometimes healing drink dispelled toxins from Lohbado's brain and nervous system. A ritual brew going back two thousand years, a secret recipe handed down via oral tradition, hit the spot.

visit to brother Kenneth
Lohbado and Brother Kenneth celebrated Montreal's 375th birthday with some beer purchased at Dépanneur Christine and some friendly conversation. It was fun riding around on the metro, free transit day, getting off at Place des Arts for a while, at Berri Uquam then Beaubien. Lohbado felt like a tourist, plus the weather was great.

healing power of creativity
At a stop sign, Lohbado stopped and read a passage from Nietszche's Birth of tragedy (La naissance de la Tragédie, traduction par Patric Wotling. Paris: Le Livre de Poche 2013, pages 189-190). The passage celebrates the civilizing influence of art, or art as medicine against degraded human tendencies.

bleak buildings
Lohbado paused during a bike ride to appreciate the aesthetics of extreme desolation, bleak buildings against grey sky. Heavy sombre forms startled him out of a day dream. He looked at them for a while then kept riding.

Lohbado bicycle
A break in the clouds, it stopped raining a while. Lohbado hopped on his bicycle and went for a long ride through the magical city of Montreal.

looking out the front door at the rain
Lohbado watched rain come down heavy and form little streams flowing past his front door to the drain. Lots of rain in Montreal, dark sky...
